Why Kevin built iT Factor
iT Factor grew out of real self-tape sessions Kevin helped his wife, actor Rachel Melvin, record. Having worked in acting, casting, and production, Kevin understood how a well-run audition session should work. Yet the at-home process was often surprisingly frustrating, with the technology pulling attention away from the performance. He couldn’t find an app that brought the structure and flow of a professional studio session to an actor’s phone, so he began building the actor-focused studio he believed should already exist.
A self-tape can carry real career weight, yet actors are often asked to move between camera tools, project notes, slates, editors, file utilities, and delivery systems while staying focused on the performance. Kevin saw the need for one workflow that treated the audition as a connected process.
Actors deserve a professional workflow that supports the performance instead of competing with it.
That idea became iT Factor: recording, project organization, take review, slates, editing, file preparation, and export brought together in one actor-focused studio.
